Ismail Gulgee

Gulgee (1926 - 2007) is Pakistan's most action calligraphy artist. Recipient of Pride of performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the artist received several awards and international acknowledgement during his lifetime. His work featured prominently in art publications and the artist rose to global fame in his lifetime. Originally having been trained as an engineer, Gulgee is a self-taught artist of calligraphy, abstracts and his renowned lapuz lazuli portraits.
